A few Pictures from my Beach Walk – Venice Beach to Santa Monica

Venice Beach
These are the Fat Tires i was talking about – that is what you ride over here – if you ride in style that is!

Venice Beach
I do not know who he is but he is famous over here!

Muscle Beach
The Venice Fishing Pier in Venice Beach. Not sure if it was here but i think it was. The last time i was in LA we did watch fisher man feeding pelican here and one of them had a little radio. Operation Desert Shield did turn into Desert Storm that minute – we took the next bus home to Hollywood to watch CNN. That long ago i was here the last time. Now i only see the birds fly – where do they sit now with all the people on the pier? Have to find out!

Than i biked over to Santa Monica. Oh what happened over here?? Terrible – compared to Venice. Like the famous beaches in Italy compared to the small villages over there. The beach was full of people – not even on the weekend i saw Venice so crowded. Guess it is here where all the hotels are. Lots of French and Germans as well. So a short walk out on the Pier and a visit to the end of the famous Route 66 and back home it was.

A clever business man put the End of Trail on the pier. The real end was not nice to take pictures and you could not really sell anything over there. Did you know that the Route 66 was the 1st paved road in America? It went all the way from Chicago to LA. I did drive quite a few miles on the original road when i had my van on my 1st trip to the US 23 years ago. I loved it! One day i want to do that again. To bad that there is only parts of the road left. So where is the real end of Route 66???

Santa Monica
From what i could find out it was the corner of Olympic and Lincoln. Now i do not really know if the road did end there – today the 101 does not stop here. So i took 2 pictures towards the 101 which is under the bridge. The bike is Irene’s cruiser which i am happy to use over here – thanks Irene!!
