It opened in May 1939 as the Los Angeles Union Passenger Terminal and replaced La Grande Station and Central Station. The building combines Dutch Colonial Revival architecture as well as Mission Revival, and Streamline Moderne style. Quite a nice combination if you ask me.<br \/>This building lets one forget time and you have the feeling you are in an old movie. Perfect combination if you go to see downtown Los Angeles and have a bit time to spare. It is just across the road from R\u00f3mulo Pico Adobe, La Iglesia de Nuestra Se\u00f1ora la Reina de los \u00c1ngeles and the Avila Adobe.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hastenteufel.name\/pix\/2015\/la\/020.jpg\" width=\"650\" height=\"462\" alt=\"Union Station Los Angeles\"><br \/> Compared to New York that is a really small station. But they do not have that much traffic so it is still working quite well.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hastenteufel.name\/pix\/2015\/la\/021.jpg\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" alt=\"Union Station Los Angeles\"><br \/>On either side of the waiting room you find enclosed garden patios.  <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hastenteufel.name\/pix\/2015\/la\/022.jpg\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" alt=\"Waiting Room Union Station Los Angeles\"><br \/>The waiting room &#8211; a nice place to kill some time till your train gets in. There used to be a drinking fountain in the niche at the end of the hall<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hastenteufel.name\/pix\/2015\/la\/028.jpg\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" alt=\"Waiting Room Union Station Los Angeles\"><br \/>Yes they still work here <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hastenteufel.name\/pix\/2015\/la\/029.jpg\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" alt=\"The old Restaurant at Union Station Los Angeles\"><br \/>The old Restaurant was the last of the &#8220;Harvey House&#8221; restaurants.
