Last Batch of Pictures from Greece – Kythira and Monemvassia
The last days on the island of Kythira: Quite and hot. We had above 30 every day and almost no wind. Most of the tourists are gone and so it is quite on the beach and in the bars. Most of the places are closed for the winter so you meet everybody in the last few ones that are open. Maria was almost done with moving her stuff out of the old place. Looks like she will move back to Athens this winter for good. That leaves me with only a few options to stay next year. Guess i have to stay with Mitsos than.
On the way back to Athens we did visit Monemvassia. One of the last old places where people are still in the buildings. According to a friend the Greek government did give the people on Kythiira money to move out of the castle. Than nothing happened and most of the buildings fall apart. And that happened all over Greece. Sad to see that – i have rather people stay in the old places and look after them than ruins all over the place.

Monemvassia – the old fortress. The city was founded in 583. In 1971 they build a bridge to link it to the main land. Now most of the buildings are hotels and restaurants.
