Update and Pictures from New York City

After the long flight from Stuttgart over Atlanta to New York City I took a shuttle bus and a taxi to make it to Matt’s place in Battery Park – downtown Manhattan. He was still awake and we did chat for a while – but then my system did shut down and I had to take some rest. Way to early in the morning I woke up – Matt was on the keyboard already. He went to work at 10 in that morning that week and came back after 11 the next morning. So I did not really see to much of him.
I had the key and was free to come and go. Will try to have lunch with him next week as he has a different working schedule than.
Now I stay with Elzbieta and Paul in Little Neck in a “Historic Neighborhood” I have a room with 2 beds, a tv set, table and a comfy reading chair. I took the day off and sit in the winter garden – enjoy the birds singing outside and the green of the garden. Yesterday there was another couple from Australia and a guy from France here as well and Paul gave us a little tour of Brooklyn in the night. Nothing new I thought but it is New York and Paul did show us a few Carriage houses in Brooklyn Heights – wow I am sure I did pass some of the few that are left and i would never know what it was!!!
It is like a better Bed & Breakfast here – breakfast, lunch and dinner comes with the room and the bed is superb – I wonder if i ever will have a better one on that trip???

A free Snapple from this nice woman in front of a flip flop of Miss Liberty! That is if she had an extra pair of shoes. But the french did let her go only with a bed sheet – if you see the french girls now – hard to imagine!

Part of the High Line. A 1 mile long section of the former elevated New York Central Railroad spur called the West Side Line. There where so many accidents before that the rail road company did hire man on horses, the “West Side Cowboys” to get the people off the tracks. So one day they came up with the idea to build an elevated railroad that runs through the buildings to deliver goods right there.

I am sure that was the biggest building in NYC at the time.

Roof Garden with a view. The only draw back – I had to take an elevator down from the apartment to take another one up all the way to the roof. Well for that view I can do that easy!

I like to travel and i like to snap pictures! My mother got me a Eurorail ticket when i was 15 and together with 2 friends we adventured into France. This was the beginning of a new addiction. I do like to take pictures so one thing leads to another and on this site i want to share some of my pictures and some of my trips with you! Now i am on the road for more than 6 months every year. Visiting old friends and making new friends while exploring this big blue ball.
