A Night in Frankfurt Fall 2019

Before South East Asia was calling I slipped in a six weeks Canada Trip with a small Maine loop. To be fair – the Canada Trip was apart from a night in Toronto only a New Brunswick & Nova Scotia trip.

Took the fast ICE train to Frankfurt to spend a night at Alexandra’s place. She had to work but organized for the neighbor to hold the key for me. Well, the neighbor could not find the key for a while. So I had a cup of tea while she turned the flat upside down. Finally, she found it and I could drop the bag in the flat.
The sky was super blue so I had to go out and walk a bit. Come and walk with me!

This is actually the town hall of Frankfurt. And like so many town halls in bigger places in Germany they have a restaurant downstairs. You can see the guy on the left. He has the keys to the wine cellar and a glass of wine in his hands. On the right, you see the wine farmer with his grapes. You can be absolutely sure that they had and still have beer as well. So after a long day of work the city council goes to the basement to discuss further with the help of some refreshments. The city is in good hands!

2000 wood buildings destroyed in 2 bomb raids. The British AF managed to destroy most of the stone buildings as well. Only a few were still standing. Somehow the church looks quite good.

Restaurant Storch – since 1704 – at that time in another building

The Storch is only a few meters from Alexandra’s place. Time to go back home and wait for her. Usually, we cross the bridge and go to Sachsenheim for some food and Äppler. Let’s see where we end up tonight. Tomorrow I fly to Canada :-)
