Athens to Stuttgart Road Trip Part 3 – Athens to Kalabaka⁩

February 24, 2018 at 11:47

After a few lazy days in Athens, it was time to hit the road. The car is old and the seats really shitty. There was no music only the radio – and no way to connect the iPhone. And even if – Mitsos has one of the worst tastes in music there is. So that part of the trip was horrible. The good part of the trip: Landscape – lots of it out there and we had blue sky for almost all the trip! On top of that, it was off-season so no tourists and since we took the small back roads not a lot of traffic. Great!

Italy declared war to Greece after its denial to let Italian troops pass the land. One of the greatest battles was from 9th to the 26th of March 1941 and it was for the “Hill 731” located 20 Kilometres north of Kleisoura at Tepeleni Albania.

Last Batch of Pictures from Greece – Kythira and Monemvassia

October 1, 2012 at 09:48

The last days on the island of Kythira: Quite and hot. We had above 30 every day and almost no wind. Most of the tourists are gone and so it is quite on the beach and in the bars. Most of the places are closed for the winter so you meet everybody in the last few ones that are open. Maria was almost done with moving her stuff out of the old place. Looks like she will move back to Athens this winter for good. That leaves me with only a few options to stay next year. Guess i have to stay with Mitsos than.
On the way back to Athens we did visit Monemvassia. One of the last old places where people are still in the buildings. According to a friend the Greek government did give the people on Kythiira money to move out of the castle. Than nothing happened and most of the buildings fall apart. And that happened all over Greece. Sad to see that – i have rather people stay in the old places and look after them than ruins all over the place.

Mitsos, his mother and Elena gave me a lift to Athens with the car. We did stay at their house in Athens for a very short night. Than it was off to the airport. Thanks Mitsos for putting me there! Landed in Stuttgart with 140 minutes delay yesterday night. The Greek air monitoring system was down all over greece so Germanwings had to land in Thessaloniki. Joga did pic me up with the SL 500 – thanks a lot!
We went for my place for some beers and did wait for the 3 Spanish couch surfers. Later we went for food and talk to the italian place. Today i did all the paperwork that piled up the last 3 weeks. Now i only have to repack for Spain. If things go well Grobi should be here tomorrow morning at 10 and we start the drive down to Barcelona.
