Summer Trip 2016 Part 5 – Groningen
Goodbye Berlin – a few more hours to Groningen. Walked to the bakery, had coffee with some baked nice things. From there it is only a minute to the tram stop. Now imagine: rush hour traffic at the station and only two machines for tickets. A looooong line and most of the people do not really know how to work the machine and do not have small change and are slow in general. To make things worse -> only one machine was working.
After all that mess downstairs with the ticket machine, I was finally up at the platform and was waiting for the tram
Best seat in the house in Berlin
Had to change the bus in Hamburg and had the same great seat again. BTW from Stuttgart to Poland, I had to fork out 74€. From Poland to Berlin and Berlin to Groningen and back to Stuttgart it was a bit less than 74€. Must be the 2 extra girls they do not have working on the bus here?
Groningen
Dee, Gerben, and Jouke were on a campground in Groningen. This way Gerben could work on the houseboat that is docked there now. Dee’s brother and Cousin were there as well. So the camper was full and the two poor Thai guys had to sleep in the tent in front of the camper. This is quite nice when it is summer but this is Dutchland and this is a Dutch summer. Sunshine and nice in the morning, cold wind and heavy rain at noon and a mild breeze in the afternoon. And in the night it can go down all the way to what we would call Fall in Germany.
From the Bus Station, which is at the Train Station and that is where my bus was stopping I had the local bus to the camp ground. Did reach it and 5 seconds later we were off. Saved me 45 minutes waiting.
One of the millions of channels
There are some bridges that do not move and some you can lift so bigger boats can move at the channels. It feels a bit like a train crossing but no train – a ship that is much slower.
Evening view from the camper
View from the camper in the morning
Morning at the campground. Took the picture from the restaurant. Our camper is about half the way down at the right
Water and bridges everywhere
Church on the way to the supermarket
And another church
Gerben and his boat. There is a big concrete bowl underneath. In the end, this whole thing is 3 small flats. Would love to see the result!
Dee wants to play Hair Dresser. Good thing she has a child that does not really say “No!”
Morning at the campground
Nice Dutch morning – only 15 minutes after the last picture!
Jouke likes to be in control
Had only a few days in Groningen. Next stop Stuttgart to prepare for the next leg of Summer Trip 2016!
Best seat on the bus – again!
